Eggs of Many Colors. Little Works of Edible Art

Hello!

Our 13 girls are now all healthy and happy and laying 10 or 11 eggs a day!
We have been able to give dozens of dozens of eggs to friends and family in the past few weeks. I am excited about that because we have wanted to be able to do that from day one, but after almost a year, it's just now happening.
We "adopted" some older and sick chickens with a large variety of issues. Newbie mistake, but now I am kind of glad we did. They needed some TLC and we were able to give it to them. Not all were in bad shape, but those that were were bad. :(
When I gift the eggs to others, I always tend to pick out the prettiest and save the rest for me and hubby. This basket consists of "the rest". Still super pretty, right?
It doesn't bother me cooking up 2 or 3 at a time, but I'm getting ready to make some deviled eggs with the ones in the basket. Call me crazy...but it is hard. I feel like each egg is a tiny piece of art.
Each of our girls lays a different color. Some are dark with dark spots. Some are solid beige, brown, or pink. Some are dark with light. Some are light with dark. We even get some greens and blues.
I do plan on saving some of the shells and creating some little works of art (jewelry) with my girl's creations so their beauty will live on.

Yep....I'm that crazy chicken /crafty lady you have heard about. :)

Thanks for stopping by!
